Naturalisation. Residence requirements. Applicant married to a British citizen
If you apply to naturalise as a British citizen and you are married to a British citizen, you must satisfy the residence requirements mentioned below.
You must have been physically present in the UK at the beginning of the period of 3 years ending with the date of the application.
The number of days on which you were absent from the UK in the period of 3 years ending with the date of the application must not exceed 270.
The number of days on which you were absent from the UK in the period of 12 months ending with the date of the application must not exceed 90.
You must not be at the date of application subject under the immigration laws to any restriction on the period for which you might remain in the UK.
You must not have been in the UK in breach of the immigration laws at any time in the period of 3 years ending with the date of the application.
